H4LF  SCHOLARSHIP  PROGRAM 

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

Mission of the Program
Round Rock, TX January, 2009 – The Hoopin4Life™ Memorial Scholarship Program is established in loving memory and honor of William Brandon Demery Vaughn. The scholarship program is designed to
promote post-high school education and encourage academic excellence in the following fields of study: Theology, Kinesiology, Mathematics, or Child Development (each representing a part of Brandon’s heart and goals for life).


Goal of the Program

The goal of the program is to carry on Brandon’s legacy of reaching and motivating youth to believe in, and strive to achieve, their dreams by emphasizing the importance of a college education; and, to assist them in their academic career goals by supplying financial aide for post High School-secondary education through the awards of this scholarship.

 

Amount of the Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded in the fall semester of each academic year to under-graduate students. For the Fall 2012 semester, the maximum total award is $1,000.

 

Student Eligibility

Applicants must meet and submit all the following criteria:

·         Full-time student (12 hours or more per semester)

·         Under-graduate students who are:

o    Attending the University of Texas at San Antonio

or,

o    Graduates of a high school in the Williamson and Travis counties of Texas (attending any institution of higher education)

·         Major in one of the following fields of study:

o    Theology

o    Kinesiology

o    Mathematics

o    Child Development

·         Maintain GPA: 2.5 on a 4.00 scale or, 3.0 on a 5.00 scale

o    Official sealed transcript is required

o    On-line transcripts and grade reports are not acceptable

·         Submit 350 – 500 word essay (typewritten and doubled spaced)

o    Hand-written applications will not be considered

·         Submit two sealed Letters of Recommendation (on official letterhead) from one of the following sources:

o    school counselor or teacher

o    church or youth pastor

o    an employer

o    community/volunteer service coordinator


 
The deadline for the application and ALL supporting criteria is May 31, 2012. 

Each applicant must apply annually to be considered for the current academic year. Applicants may only apply up to their 5th year in college
